Technical information about this website's accessibility
Rochdale Borough Council is committed to making its website accessible, under The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Form page tabs
When navigating through pages of the e-form, page tabs do not have a parent relationship. This fails WCAG 1.3.1 success criterion. The tabs are visually a different style type but are not programed to be identified as different.
Label names
The screen reader experience is affected by each page not being announced. This is also true for the radio button questions within the forms, and so essential information is lost to screen reader viewers.
Status messages
When navigating through pages of the form, page changes are not announced to screen reader users. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 4.1.3 Status message.
Map location search
When identifying the location related to the subject of the E-form, the map function is not compatible with accessibility aids. This fails WCAG 1.1.1 success criterion. An alternative search has been provided where possible.
Focus visible
Some in-content links throughout the form don't have sufficient visibility when focused by keyboard users. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.7 Focus visible.
Link purpose
Empty links within the header of the site. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.4 Link purpose (in context).
We've reported these issues to our e-form supplier and aim to work with them to fix them, where possible.
Through continued partnership with Granicus, these e-forms will be improved and tested further within the next 12 months.
Any non-compliances that require support to update by our form supplier, Granicus, will have its status updated when further information is available.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 06 August 2024. It was last reviewed on 24 February 2025
The Granicus e-forms were last tested in February 2025. The test was carried out by staff at Rochdale Borough Council, testing a sample of the forms developed.
We completed our accessibility audit by testing the site using tools such as Accessibility Insights for Web (to test coding elements), WebAIM contrast checker (to test the contrast levels between colours) and Sitemorse (to auto- test up to WCAG 2.2 (AA) standard).
